Our Story
Founded in 2024 by brothers Christopher and Mathew, Benstead Abbey Resources was born from a shared passion for wine, craft drinks, and international trade.
With over 20 years in the wine industry – including a decade making wine in New Zealand – Mathew now produces award-winning wines in the UK, bringing deep, hands-on knowledge of winemaking and production. Christopher leads our consultancy operations, building strong relationships with independent wine and spirits producers across the UK and rest of the world, and helping them access new markets around the globe.
Importing into the UK for around a dozen boutique small producers from around the world, Benstead Abbey Resources prides itself on having only the finest wines available with many of the brands exclusive to us including some from emerging regions such as Serbia, Armenia and Georgia.
Now joined by Simon Cooper after a long career in finance, Simon's shared passion for wine and frequent trips to the continent made him a perfect addition for our team at BAR.
